Default Can't change font size in table layout

I've got several documents that I'm trying to format, and I'm having some issues with the table. I want to set the font at 10 points, but when i open the Modify Style, the font size is blank. Every time I select a font size, the field blanks out (see attached file).

Any suggestions?

ETA: I've also noticed that in the section of the ribbon that lets you activate different options --header banded columns, first column, etc.--the Banded Columns and Banded Rows options are grayed out (see attached image).

Hey, sorry you haven't had a response to your question. This particular subforum is one I "never look at" but I thought I might take a quick look on this occasion.

On my machine, if the document is saved in doc format then it doesn't appear to support banded styles and most likely not let you fiddle the font attributes as part of the table style. Certainly, when I save to doc format I see the same greyed out Banded Rows/Columns that were enabled when the document was docx.

Good idea, but it's happening in a DOCX file.

I played with the formats a bit and discovered that if you choose to set the table style whole table font size to something other than 10pt (eg 9.5pt or 10pt) then the font size sticks.

A google search turned up this microsoft office - MS Word : Priority management between table and paragraph styles - Super User which might explain the behaviour you are seeing.

Try this:

1. open the modify style for the table.
2. Select "Format" in the bottom left corner
3. Select "Font"
4. Under "Font:" select the name of the font you want.
5. Under "Size:" select the size you want.
6. Select "ok" to close the font window.
7. Select "ok" to close the Modify Style window.
