Default Need to move text in one column and have specific, corresponding text move with it in the 2nd column

Hello,

I have an 18 page, ".docx", Word 2013 document that is one big table, with 1 row, and 2 columns.

In my left-hand column (1), I have Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) text, which are the milestones and tasks to complete.

In my right-hand column (2), I have corresponding milestone and task number identifiers, used in another system, to document that the milestones and tasks in the first column have been completed.

I have gone to pain-staking, manual length to keep the SOP milestone and task text in column 1, aligned horizontally/laterally with the milestone and task number identifiers column 2.

My problem is that every time I update the SOP milestone and task text in column 1, the corresponding milestone and task number identifiers column 2 are no longer in alignment. So, I always have to go back and manually align the milestone and task number identifiers column 2, with the updated SOP milestone and task text in column 1. This involves adding lines, deleting lines, page-breaks, adjusting the point size of blank lines, etc. In short, this is a real pain...

What I am looking to do, is to somehow "link", "anchor", "connect", "group", etc., the
SOP milestone and task text in column 1, with the milestone and task number identifiers column 2. This way, when something moves in column 1, the corresponding information in column 2 moves with it.

I would EXTREMELY grateful if someone can help me with this.

Why don't you break the various sections into separate rows rather than have one large row that you are never going to control as you plan?
