Borders on merged cells also appearing on unwanted adjacent cells
I have created a table using approx 8 cells across, being a form that can either be filled out on the pc or can be printed and completed by hand. I have merged different cells together on different rows depending on the information on that row, but when I want to place a bottom border on the (merged) blank cells where the information is to be inserted, sometimes (but not always) the bottom border will either appear in the whole row or in the cell adjacent to the one I wanted.
I am definitely only selecting the border to be applied to the cell, not the whole table or paragrah in the border options. If I try to remove a border from an adjacent cell where it is showing in error, the option is not available as it knows no border has been applied to that cell, even though it is showing on the screen/print. i have been able to apply the borders only where I want them in most of the table, but cannot understand why this is happening in some cells and not others. Has anyone encountered this problem and can tell me where I'm going wrong? |
