Default Can't get rid of gap below shape in table cell

Hello, I have inserted an shape (triangle) as an inline image into a table cell hoping that it would align with the very bottom of the cell. The bottom border of the cell/table is the same color as the shape, and I want them to appear seamless. I don't need text to appear over or behind the shape.

Anyway, there's always this very thin gap where the background color of the cell shows through. Here's how I have everything set up:

Table Cell Alignment: Align Bottom Left
Table Cell margins: 0,0,0,0
Paragraph > Spacing > Before/After: 0,0

I can't do anything with positioning, which is grayed out (since it's an inline image). The reason I wanted inline is so that the image is contained within the table and I don't have to keep adjusting it when I change the table's size or move it. All of this is really just to make a more functional table version of a text box. Any ideas how to adjust this? Any workarounds? Thanks in advance.

The apparent gap may be no more than a display limitation. Try turning off the table gridline display.

Thanks macropod. That didn't work, unfortunately.

I tried rotating the image and flipping the background color to see if I could obviate the need to get rid of that gap, but then I noticed that an identical gap also appears at the top of the cell. In the end, it looks like Word always places a buffer around inline images in cells (unlike, say, html tables).

In experimenting, I found that if I use a jpeg instead of a shape, I can get rid of the vertical padding, but no matter what there's still a thin strip on the right side where the background shows through. Anyway, this seems like a rather annoying flaw... my task here is maybe sort of rare, but what if I wanted to use a 1x2 table to caption a photo, with the caption area a) shaded and b) the same width as the photo? Even if I make the background of the photo cell the same shade as the document background, the caption cell still overhangs by like a pixel. (See the pink line on the right in my attached picture as an example.)

I suspect that's just a display artefact. I see something similar @ multiples of 180% zoom on my laptop, but not at other zoom levels. Does it affect the printout?
