Default Hyperlinks In Table Headers

I have a 40-page document--most of which is one long table. In the table header row, which repeats on each page, I have alphabetical hyperlinks--A to Z--to bookmarks at the beginning of each section. On the first page, these links work just fine to all locations in the document. On the second and subsequent pages, they appear as links--colored and underlined--but they are dead. What am I missing?

Just found out you cannot interact with the header row on subsequent pages. Not solved, but I understand, now.

Your understanding is correct - you cannot interact with the header row on subsequent pages.

I have a similar document where I needed hyperlinks in the table header row on paged. My document was around 75 pages. What I did to ensure I could have this is functionality is enter a page break at the bottom of each page so that I could copy paste the desired header row on each page. It took time but it looks like a repeating header row. It was close enough for my needs.

Unfortunately, that also breaks the table into multiple tables, which could compromise anything that relies on it being a single table (e.g. formula fields); worse, if you need to make any edits anywhere before the table, that could result in the splits all occurring somewhere other than at a page break.
