Default Tables and automatic picture resize

I'd like to have a table with fixed size that would automatically resize the copied picture when pasted, to the dimensions of the said table.

I read about doing that via Table Properties/Row Height:Exactly path however when I paste a picture in my table only part of it gets displayed (i.e. it's not automatically resized).

Can someone advise me on how to achieve this? A template would be awesome (4" x 4" table).

That's probably happening because you pasted the content into the document then moved it into the table.

Hmmm, I tried that and it's working however doing the exact same thing on my work computer (using the same document) doesn't work, the picture doesn't resize.

Is there a global Word setting I have to enable to make this work?

There is no global setting to change - it's simply something that ordinarily works if a picture is inserted directly into a table cell of fixed height & width. I've never before heard of it not working. Perhaps there's a fault in the work computer's Office installation. You might try repairing it, via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair.
