Default Using tables in a Word document

I have Office 2003 Professional on my computer; recently I made a table to keep track of my medicines that I take. Time of day etc.; will upload an example. I keep it on my desktop for convenience. When I open it to enter time of day & then close it, it will not close unless I change the name. Before I could just hit the save button or Crtl + S to save it now it will either save to My Documents or desktop when I add a number. I’ve done a repair from both Word (Help-detect & repair) and control panel (uninstall or change a program) All have failed. I’ve noticed that in Windows 10 Pro some of the updates break’s things.
