Default Printing PDFs from Word

I have been trying to print a Word document as a PDF. It has a lot of lines and ruling in it, but when the PDF is generated, some of them don't come out as directed. It works fine as a hardcopy. Does anyone know why line weight changes when Word documents are printed as PDFs?

It doesn't just happen with tables, but also with underscores or other lines drawn as well.

This is a long-standing issue with PDF reader software, including Adobe's own reader. A workaround is to make the lines slightly thicker in Word.
