Vlookup from one table to another
Can you do a Vlookup in Word like you would in Excel?
In the attachment, the third table is a simple addition between table 1 and table 2. Once you have the results of table 3, I would like the results table to match the correct results from the lookup table. Just the second column numbers though. The text (Jan, Feb, Mar, etc) from the first column will already be static within the results table. Any thoughts? Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 07-20-2017 at 05:54 AM. Reason: Mark as solved |

No. Word has no such capability. To do something along the lines of what you've described would require a macro.

Is there a good reason to not do this within Excel, which has this built-in?

Yes. Because sometimes with our Word final report, the mathematical calculation can be small enough we can calculate the results directly in the report versus having to build a separate Excel file.

IMHO, constructing what would be a fairly complex Word macro to emulate something that could be done quite easily with a linked or embedded Excel worksheet is a waste of effort.
