Your problem description is ambiguous. You seem to be implying that tables below the one you're editing move up and into it. That is not the normal behaviour and suggests you have: a) a faulty Office installation; b) a corrupt document; and/or c) an errant 3rd-party addin.

Perhaps you could attach a document to a post to demonstrate the problem.

Default tables moving above to inside other tables

thanks macropod and sorry for the delay getting back to you.

unfortunately I cant attach file.

I have an appraisal form.

as I type in text in the first table (its a comment cell, so could have many lines of text). a lower table of 4, moves up to merge itself on the table above. therefore two tables on top of each other. what an do I stop this lower table from doing this.

I have tried to copy and paste on a new document, but it still happens.

any answers will be extremely helpful

I seriously doubt the lower table is moving at all. The 'lower' table may have 'around' text wrapping and have a fixed positioned on the page, with the result that the increasing height of the table you're editing causes the two to overlap. If so, the simple solution would be to change the 'lower' table's wrap format.
