Default Table Header - have 'continued' on subsequent pages...

Hi there

Is it possible to have a Table with Header Rows Repeated - that when split over multiple pages contains the text '..continued' in subsequent pages (i.e. other than the first page)?

If so, how?

Many thanks!

Yes. It is not simple and can be difficult to edit.

Put the word "continued" in the header row of the table, that is, in the first row.

With your selection point outside the header row, insert a borderless white shape that occludes the word "continued." That shape must be anchored outside the header row. It can be anchored outside the table itself.

When the table wraps onto another page, the occluding shape will not be duplicated and the word will appear.

Eeek!

Thought there might be a simple 'yeah, insert this field...' answer.

Hmmm...will give it a go, see how easy it is to maintain!

Thanks

If you can anchor the textbox/shape to a different row in the table -- outside of the header row -- it should not be difficult to maintain. It will be a real puzzle for someone else trying to edit it, though.

Aye, that's the bit I am worried about.
Not everyone I work with is a wiz at Word ;-)

Thanks again!

Default How to Add "Continued" to Table Caption after First Page

This solution is quite simple and I believe the main reason for "Continuous Section Breaks." Basically, put the table between Continuous Section Breaks, de-link the headers, and put the caption (or a bookmark to the header), with "(Continued)" added onto the end, into the header of the section containing the table. With the table's header set to repeat, the 2nd and following pages of the table will look like the first except it will have "Continued" in the caption.

Adding Continuous Section breaks is neither simple nor is it a better solution to the one originally set forth.
