Autonumbering clauses in separate table columns
Hi
I am trying to multi-level number clauses in a document in a table, with the English language version in the first column and the mirror Spanish translation in the second column. The problem I'm having is separating the autonumbering - I start applying headings to the English version and I'm having difficulty applying same-level headings to the Spanish version without continuing numbering from the English version. Any ideas? Thanks Bertie |

The simplest solution would be to use three columns - the first with an empty, autonumbered paragraph on each row, the other two columns with no numbering. That way, it should be apparent that the numbering applies to both.

Thanks, macropod, but this is a legal document and the original and its translation must each be numbered

In that case, you could auto-number the left column and not number the right column; instead, insert a cross-reference there to the numbered paragraph in the left column.
