Default Table spread across pages when creating header

Hi,

Thanks in advance. i have created a table with 1298 rows. i want the header to be repeated in each page. In Table properties the text wrapping is "none" and in rows tab i have checked "repeat as header row at the top of each page". when i am selecting these options each row in the table is listed in each page. please provide a solution.

thanks,
Sandcharles

When using the Table Properties menu you have to make sure you are applying those directions to the row you want repeated as the header row (Row 1) using the "Previous Row" or "Next Row" buttons as appropriate.

An alternative (and quicker) method is to simply highlight the row you want repeated (Row 1) within the table then, from the "Layout Ribbon" select "Repeat Header Rows" from the Data portion of the ribbon (far right-hand side).

Hope this helps...

Select the table and uncheck the header rows property. Then select only the rows you want for the header and re-check the header rows property. If you still don't get header rows, you either have a table that's been split or, perhaps, a cell whose height extends beyond the header row range.

That depends on your table, which I haven't seen. Obviously, if you have, say, a left column that is the full height of the table, but you only want the first two rows as header rows, the left column spans rather more than that...

Without actually seeing the problem document, it can be difficult for anyone to diagnose the issue. Can you attach a document to a post with some representative data (delete anything sensitive)? You do this via the paperclip symbol on the 'Go Advanced' tab at the bottom of this screen. We don't need all 1298 rows - just even to show the behaviour (except for the header rows, they can even empty, for all that matters).

if i do that i'll lose my job. i found out the problem. whenever i am selecting text wrapping as none and allowing header rows to repeat the table is positioning itself below the header margin of the page.
rearranged the header and footer of the page and now it is solved.
