Connecting a Table Caption to the table
Is it possible in word 2013 to connect a table caption with the table so that the two move as one object?

Ideally, you'd add an extra row to the table and put the caption in that. Alternatively, if the caption precedes the table, format its paragraph with the 'keep with next' property. Conversely, if it follows the table, format the paragraphs on the last table row with the 'keep with next' property.
