Aligning table with bottom of page
I'm converting a template from 2003 to 2010. It uses a table in the footer of the front page with variable amounts of text and in Word 2003 the bottom of the table remains aligned neatly with the bottom of the page, no matter now much text is in it: the top of the table moves so that the bottom edge remains static. Its vertical alignment (via Postioning button in Table Properties) is actually just 0 inches relative to the Paragraph. However in 2010 the vertical alignment appears to work differently: as text is added/removed in the table, the top of the table stays put so that as the overall height of the table changes, so does the alignment of the bottom of the table with the bottom of the page.
Is there any way I can make the table behave the same way as in 2003? |

Quesiton
I'm having trouble understanding what you are trying to achieve. If you want the bottom of the table to stay at the bottom of the page, set the table wrap to Around and Positioning to 0. As you add text, the top will rise to accommodate it. Is this what you're after?

Thanks. Yes, difficult to explain this one! I tried your suggestion but in fact those settings were already on.
I think I've fixed it. I had converted an old 2003 template to a 2010 .dotm template and it seems as if the old format tables behave differently. I had one set up as an AutoText entry that a macro inserts into the footer and then fills in with variable text depending on a dialog box users fill in. This table behaved strangely in that its top remained fixed and when typed text inside it started to wordwrap, the table expanded downwards rather than upwards as you'd expect. I have remade the table in 2010 and replaced the AutoText entry with the new table and now it behaves correctly, expanding upwards instead of downwards. By the way, in case someone has missed this, AutoText is now in the Insert tab of the ribbon, under the bizarrely named Quick Parts option. |

I have found it advantageous to put Autotext on my Quick Access Toolbar. Items on the toolbar can be opened easily with Windows key+the number of the item, L-R. For example, in Autotext is the 5th item from the left, Windows key+5 opens a dropdown of autotext entries.
