Default How Split Table/Have Headings show on 2nd table

Is there a way to split a table, and have the column headings duplicate in the new 2nd table?

I tried setting Repeat Header on, but that only works when it crosses multiple pages.

My searches have only found topics of splitting the table. Can't find any on split/maintain header.

Thanks

Why not just copy & paste the heading of the table from the first table to the second?

I'm thinking there is probably no way to automate.

No reason to not copy/paste, but why do that if in fact it can be automated at time of breaking the table?

Just trying to learn most efficient methods.

Yeah, okay. I am not aware of such a method but, if so, I would be interesed as well.

Since they're two (or more) separate tables, you can't have the heading from one become the heading for the other. You could, of course, bookmark the first table's header row(s), then insert a cross-reference to the bookmark immediately before the second table.

An alternative, if you want the same table header at the top of every page containing the tables, is to insert a 'Next page' section break before the first table and another Section break after the second table, unlink the header for both the tables Section and the Section following from the sections that precede them, then insert your header table into the page header for the tables section.
