I want to create a table (a calender) that will print out as exact number of inches, how can I specify how large I want the content of my document to be?
Is there a way to size the entire document for exactly 5x6.5 inches and then everything within the document will be within the desired size of paper? I also want to attach a small square to the corner of each cell, how do I get the square to be applied directly at the top right side of each cell? thankyou, |

You can use the table tools to set the exact column widths and row heights. Do note that few printers can print to withing 5mm of the paper adges, so you will have to allow for that.
Word also allows you to centre a table horizontally and, if you change its wrapping to 'around', to vertically. For the square, you could manually position a graphic object in the appropriate location in each cell, or you could create a table with extra columns and rows, then hide the unwanted row/column borders for every second row/column combo. See attached.

To do this I created a 14-column table, whose cell margins I set to 0 all round, without the ability to 'Automatically resize to fit contents' (using Properties>Table>Options on the Table Tools|Layout tab).
I then gave the columns alternate widths of 2cm and 0.5cm (using Properties>Column on the Table Tools|Layout tab). The rows, likewise alternate between 0.5cm and 1.5cm (using Properties>Row on the Table Tools|Layout tab, with the row heights set to 'exactly'). I then deleted the right & top borders for the 2cm*1.5cm cells (using the Borders button on the Table Tools|Design tab), to give the appearance of a 2.5cm*2cm cell with a 0.5cm*0.5cm box in the upper corner. To finish things off, I changed to table's text wrapping to 'around' and set its positioning as centred vertically & horizonatlly relative to the margins (using Properties>Table>Positioning on the Table Tools|Layout tab).
