Default Columns lines in table have spaces and indents in the borders

Hi there,

I have been having this problem. The table column lines have indents and space in them. I tried searching for a solution on the internet without success.

Please help

See pic.

If an actual word file is more helpful, I can upload one as well

Thank you

There is nothing apparent regarding indents and spacing in your image, other than the fact that the cell contents appear to be vertically and horizontally centred. Aside from that, indents and spacing are controlled by paragraph formatting.

Attached is a zoomed in version of the pic (Look at the difference between the vertical row lines) and a file with a table that is correct and the table that has problems. I know I can re create the table but when I have large formatted tables it would be better to fix the table then recreate.

You have two table with eight columns. Both have merged cells in the first two and last three columns. The only difference is the number of rows the merged cells span.

When you add a new row to the bottom of the table, that row will have the standard dimensions - with no merging. If you want the cells to be merged, you have to do it manually - or you can copy & paste an existing range with merged cells. Conversely, if you insert a new row between the top & bottom rows in a vertically-spanned range, the merged cells will increase in height to accomodate the new row
