How do I limit what file copy keeps?
I am running MS8.1 and have file copy turned on with the option to never delete anything. As a result my filecopy file is getting rather large.
I know I can change the parameters so that files that are older than some fixed period of time are deleted (1 year, 3 months, 1 month, etc) but I don't know if that is a good thing. As I understand, initially FC must make a copy of everything. And then it makes a copy of a file if the file has changed. But say, to cut down on the size of the FC file and the unneeded copies, I set the delete parameter to 3 months. If one of the initial files has not changed in three months will that file be deleted? Or will it keep at least the most current version of all files? |
