Default Can't launch Internet Explorer

For the past few days I have been unable to launch Internet Explorer successfully; when I click the icon the egg-timer appears for a few seconds and then disappears but no window is opened. If, after this, I run Task Manager I see an entry for iexplorer.exe in the list on the processes tab (using a large proportion of the CPU) but no entry for IE in the list on the Applications tab.

Though this thread is a bit old but if you still have the issue then the best way is to uninstall IE from your system, run an anti-virus program, and reinstall IE again. Hope it will help you.

Dear trogerst, - Thanks for your message. I did try (as a last resort) to reinstall IE but the system responses I received indicated that it hadn't worked and certainly some manifestation of IE clearly was still functioning. However, shortly after this attempt the problem spontaneously disappeared and hasn't returned. - Fingers crossed!

You are most welcome Gar. Yes, if your problem has been resolved then obviously you need to mark it as solved. To do that, click on on the "Thread Tools" menu above in menu bar and click on "Mark this thread as solved".

Cheers!
