Default Time will not synch

For the past several weeks since reinstalling Windows on my laptop, my time has been off for a minute or so. I opened the Date/Time control panel. Oddly, or maybe I never noticed it before, but the Internet Time tab didn't show initially. However, it appeared after a delay of a few seconds.

I clicked on Change Settings and thought I found the problem. The check box for synching time was not checked. I checked it and also clicked Update Now with the server set to time.nist.gov.

I opened the NIST time server and surprisingly my time was still off by about 30 seconds. So I switched to time.windows.com and rechecked. Now I'm off by 10 seconds.

That's not good enough and I frankly have no faith that my Windows system can faithfully do this mundane task for me. Do I need to manually update every day?

Haven't seen the thread

10 seconds isn't really bad. The server on time.windows.com is known to sync time even worse.
For the others I don't know, but I guess they aren't any better. The problem is, since the sync is done automatically, you never will be sure if the time shown on your computer is as accurate as you would like it to be. That's because it's a matter of how many "computers" update their time at the same instant. Therefore after sync it can be worse than before.

Myself I never tried, but theoretically you can enter whatever server suits you (maybe some of them windows won't accept). Be aware there are also servers which want to charge for the service provided.

Most countries count with some universities or other institutions which provide that kind of service, you will have to check locally. Those aren't that busy and therefore it might result in more accuracy. But as I said before, you never will know.

I don't think a 10 second difference can be a major issue. But still, try to come on a faster internet. Hope it will help you out.

I don't think coming on the internet would help much at all. I can foresee some problems with execution, shorting out my router to start with.
