Default Computer has gone crazy

I was using my computer, with Windows7, when all of a sudden the curser froze. Tried all sorts of stuff. primarily Fn followed by F3 to get the touchpad back on. I got a notice that the touchpad was back on but the curser was still stuck. Tried gliding over all the keys, and when I hit the space bar the curser came back on. But then my IE and Firefox disappeared from the taskbar. When I went to all programs, selected Firefox or IE, they came on but my favorites list was gone. Any Ideas?
