Searching for words across all file formats
I have Word 2010 on a 64 bit ASUS computer.
I want to search for a word or phrase using windows explorer across all file formats PDF, Excel, PowerPoint. It will only return Word Docs that have the word and not a PDF even though I know it is in a PDF that has no security. I did this previously but now there seems to be a problem. Is there a preference that needs to be turned on? Any help would be much appreciated. I went into windows explorer and then Tools - folder options - search Then under what to search clicked on "Always search file names...... But that doesn't search the pdfs Last edited by sunalta; 01-21-2014 at 08:11 PM. |

You should use Windows Explorer for this, not Word ...

Oops maybe someone could move this to Windows
Anyway, it has to do with the indexing options - advanced options - File types For PDF it states "Registered IFilter is not found" So I googled and found an adobe update. Will try loading that and see what happens |
