5 year old Gateway laptop and Windows 8
The Gateway laptop is 5 years old and came with Vista. It has 1 gig of memory and a 500 gig drive. It has a 32 bit OS with x64 based procesor. I recently upgraded to Windows 8 because Vista required too many updates and was slow. It ran fast for a while but is beginning to slow again. should I add memory or upgrade other hardware? Memory definitely plays the biggest role here than any other hardware. If your mainboard allows, upgrading to 4 GB ram should improve the performance greatly.
