Visio 2007: text labels on connectors
I write documentation in an IT department. I receive Visio files as input from other people. Sometimes there is curious behavior from these files that does not occur when I create a file myself. I'm wondering if there's is setting to control this. Here's what I'm talking about.
In my own Visio files, I use the Connector Tool to insert lines between boxes. I double-click on the line to enter a text label. The text label has a handle on it (a tiny yellow diamond) that lets me move the text anywhere I want. In contrast, with the files I receive from others, the text label on a connector line has no handle. I cannot move the text anywhere. It's position is fixed wherever Visio puts it (usually in the middle of the line). Can anyone tell me how to enable the handles for this text? Thanks. |

One thing that Visio allows is the many ways of creating the same process. For example, you indicate that if the connector line has no handle you cannot move the text. That is not true. To move ANY text, simply use the "Text Block Tool" from the standard toolbar (select the drop-down menu to the right of the "Text Tool" indicated with an "A") and right-clicking on the text...then move where desired (once you right-click you will see a dual-triangle icon that will allow the move once you hoover atop the text you want to move).
Hope this helps. |
