How to remove PK icon from table
By default next to the PK attribute in a table the key icon is showing. Can anyone help me to disable this so it doesn't show the icon, just the PK letters to show next to the attribute name.
There must be a setting somewhere. Thanks all. |

You need to attach a sample file that includes this so we can see what you are talking about.

It looks like the shape is similar to the database entity shapes shown in this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3uTWpuv54U There is instructions in that video that show how to change the primary key which are probably directly relevant to what you are wanting to do.

No luck
All videos I've seen on YouTube don't have this key icon against the PK of the entity. I have added another picture to show the difference.

I'm pretty sure it will work the same way. Did you click on that attribute so that it is sub-selected and then right click it?
I can't investigate a screen capture - you need to post an actual Visio file if you want someone here to provide specific instructions. We don't have the same entity shape that you do and it may have features we haven't seen before.

Visio Document
I have attached a Visio document with the problem. I was not allowed to upload the .vsdx file so I renamed it with extension .txt. Please rename back to .vsdx and you should be able to open in Visio 2016.

Yes, the symbol is different but the behaviour is the same.
Watch the video this time - the solution shown around the 9 to 10 minute mark is EXACTLY the same method to remove the Primary Key symbol and PK letters.

Hi
Thanks for your feedback so far. I don't want to remove the PK letters, that is fine. It's the icon that I want to remove, the picture of a key. The PK letters have to stay as this indicates primary key. It's just the the picture of the key that I want to be removed. |

I am not worried that the PK letters are slightly different, just want to get rid of the picture of the key.

OK, to get rid of the key image, it is easiest to make it non-visible. It will still be there but that won't matter if it is set to be hidden. That way you will have the option to make it visible again if you change your mind.
To do that, you need to decide what you are going to change. You could change one instance but it would make more sense to change either the instance in the document stencil or in the stencil you chose it from in the first place. Let's make the assumption you are changing the instance in the document stencil - this will change all the instances already in your document. In the stencils list go to More Shapes > Document Stencil. Right click on the shape called Primary Key Attribute and choose Edit Master > Edit Master Shape. This opens a new window with the key symbol beside a PK and attribute name. Click on the key shape twice so the selection handles ONLY show the key shape selected. Then right click it and choose Show Shapesheet Find the Geometry 1 section and the field called Geometry1.NoShow. Change its value to =True Close the shapesheet Close the Primary Key Attribute window - You will be asked if you want to update the shape and all of its instances - click Yes.
