Default Paste From Visio To Excel As List/ Table (Not Image)
Can one paste a visio shape (table shape of entity relationship diagram) into Excel & have it appear as a table/ list so you can edit the data; rather than appearing as a useless image.


  • Tried running a Shape Report but a very un-detailed summary generated.

I only have Visio Standard and aren't sure if you are using a feature reserved for Visio Professional. Can you post a doc that shows a sample of the data you want to extract to Excel?

I would assume it is possible to extract tabular data but would need to experiment to work out the method to do so.

Thanks Guessed, apologies late response.
  • Pic attached
  • Version 2211 Build 15831.20208 (Visio 21)
  • It is a UML Class Diagram With Associations; but I could use an Entity Relationship Diagram in Crows Feet notation if need be.
