Default Can't change end-type of lines

I have Visio 2016 Pro. I've dragged a line with end points (dots) to my drawing and also lines with double-arrows (a double-arrow on each end) to my drawing, and in both cases, I can't change the end-point type to single arrows. Why can't I change the end-point types? I choose the end-point type I want, but nothing changes on the lines.

Thanks,

Jay

Can you post a sample document? Without seeing what you have in your document it can be hard to diagnose the issue.
