Question New Data Source for each page in Visio

Hi everyone,

I have an Excel spreadsheet with a different sheet for each stage of a process. It was much easier to be able to focus on each stage on its own rather than all in the one process map as it makes changing the links to steps a lot simpler if we need to update a process.

But I want to have a similar set up in Visio, where each page in Visio relates to a separate stage/sheet in my excel process map. Making the charts a lot simpler to follow and acutally readable. Plus I have added the option to click to go to the next process based on the outcome of the previous process as I need this interactive for staff and if they're too complicated no one will use it.

I have copied & pasted the charts I'd done individually into one Visio document which is exactly what I want, but I can't refresh the data in that document to show changes.

Is there a way to set a new data source for each page in a Visio document?

I don't want to have to copy & paste each time if I can help it.

Thank you!

I assume this question is talking about the data handling which is present in Visio Professional. Unfortunately I only have Standard so I don't have access to an embedded database to test.

I would presume you need all the data in a single worksheet to import and have it include a field used to filter each page's dataset.

In since I have Visio Standard, I would need to write a macro to build the graphics dynamically - and possibly run that macro from Excel to create the file.

Maybe someone with Visio Professional will chip in here but we don't have many Visio experts on this forum. Have you tried any Visio-specific forums?

Yes Visio Professional. I'm sorry, I thought this was for Visio. I googled 'visio forum' and this is what came up. I'll keep looking as you're the only reply to date.

Thank you
