Changing default shape properties
I know this is a common question but I haven't been able to find a solution that works with my version of Visio: 2019/pro. I want to do something simple: for various drawings I'd like to change the default properties for various shapes. Sometimes fill, sometimes line width, etc. I haven't found a way to do it, but it must be relatively easy.. Thanks! |

Most shapes are set to respond to the Theme applied to the document. If you go to the Design tab and choose a theme and Variant you should be able to change default properties of existing and new shapes on the page. Also pay attention to the dropdown options on the Variants as this can change colours, effects and connectors.

Thanks - that looks reasonable but it is something I've never messed with. I picked a theme at random [the leftmost one] and a Variant similarly [again, the leftmost one]. I don't see, exactly, from there how to tweak things like shape-fill and line width. When I go to "shape styles" on the home tab I still can't change Fill t "no fill" [although i was able to change the default line width. |
