Working with vbackgrounds in Visio 2016
I have an older version of Visio that works this way. I can change the orientation of any page by hitting control and selecting a corner, then dragging from portrait to landscape.
I use a "vbackground" so that I can put the page numbers at the top of the page (in portrait). In my old version of Visio, I can change the orientation of any page and the page numbers always stay on the top of the page. Put differently, the vbackground does not change. When I bring a file home to Visio 2016, to change orientation, I have to choose "orientation" in "page tools". Once I do this to change from portrait to landscape for any page, this changes the vbackground too. This means my page numbers are on the "side" of the page instead of at the top. In Visio 2016, how do I change orientations for each page, yet leave the vbackground such that it does not change? |

Does no one do this?
It's actually terrible. If I use my "old" version of Visio, I can rotate each sheet, but the vbackground stays the same. In Visio 2016, I have no way to do this. I will have to uninstall Visio 2016, because not only can I not rotate individual sheets without breaking the vbackground, but when I go to an older version of Visio, 2016 does something to the file, and causes my old version of Visio to crash when I try to rotate a sheet. Whoever thought it was a good idea to get rid of the ability to get rid of the capability to change each sheet to portrait or landscape in Visio 2016 should be fired. This makes 2016 completely useless to me. I CANNOT use it. |

Unfortunately, there appear to be few Visio users on this forum and I'm a long way off being an expert in it myself.
I had a play with the backgrounds and can see your issue but it doesn't appear to be an insurmountable problem to me. Is it such a great issue to create backgrounds with Portrait and Landscape variants and apply the right one according to the page setup? I did find another thread which seems related to this question and it looks like they used code to modify the position of 'background' objects related to the page setup. They were doing this in earlier versions of Visio so perhaps this isn't relevant to your experience with background pages. Background Size
