Default Rediscovering Visio - ancient Visio 2000

I must be registered here as my first choice of user name and pw logged me in, but it must be either a very long time since I posted or my memory's even worse than I'd thought!

Q1:
Just started displaying some of my scores of .VSD files made with Visio 2000 a decade or two ago. Pleased to see them opening OK. But they don't show a thumbnail in Win 10 File Explorer like all my other file types:

Q2:
I'm paying a hefty annual charge for Office 365 for my solo home use of Excel and very rarely Word. Risking a dumb question, does this perhaps also entitle me to Visio please?

Terry, UK

As far as I know, this forum is not run by Microsoft and you won't get an official answer to Q2 here. To the best of my knowledge, Visio is not part of the suite of apps you get by buying Office 365. If you can find a Microsoft official page that says it is then I would be very interested in that.

To the best of my knowledge, a thumbnail requires your document to have a saved preview stored. This can be created by Visio when you have the file open if you have that optional setting turned on. Have a look at these threads to see if they help you get a preview thumbnail after opening and saving a file.

Visio file preview

Note that you may also need to save the file in a more updated format such as vsdx in order for it to work but if you still have Visio 2000 loaded then a preview of a vsd file should still be possible.

Thanks Andrew, but I'd seen those threads and no success.

As you see, Visio 2000 Properties already shows the Preview option enabled.

Visio is always a paid-for extra, it's never included in any of the Office packages.
The Visio 2000 format (.vsd) was updated in Visio 2003 and a new XML format (.vdx) was added and later versions of Visio have deprecated the XML version and the original V2000 format (but not V2003), so you may have issues if you wish to update to a later version of Visio, it will be a one-way journey, no going back to Visio 2000.
