Container Data in Shape Data
Hello,
I would like to automatically include container data in my respective Shape data sets. example Container name: Test cases Shapes in Container Test 1 Test 2 etc. Shape Report should ideally spit out the following columns Shape ID, Shape Name, Container Name It doesnt seem too complicated imo, but I cant find a solution without vba/macros etc. Thanks for support! |

This forum isn't strong on Visio help so you might not get much expertise applied to your question here. I'm not familiar with a Shape Report but it looks like you run it from the Review tab and you can produce your own fields so it must be customisable in the GUI.
How is the container determined? Are the shapes 'subshapes' within the parent container shape or do they simply sit in a region bounded by a larger shape? Is there a field in the subshapes that names the parent container? Perhaps you need to post a sample doc that demonstrates the relationship between the container and the shape? Are you opposed to a VBA solution?
