Default Losing data graphics when refreshing external data

I want to produce a "visual risk map" using risks from a risk register in an Excel sheet. This is imported to Visio using the Quick Import.

I have made a custom shape, the triangle, with data graphics that show 1) the ID from the risk register and 2) a color based on the risk level of the risk contained in another column in the Excel sheet.

However, upon refreshing the External data (from Data tab), the "color by value" data graphics are lost. Shape data is still there and the link.

Anyone had a similar issue and a solution?

Thanks!
