Talking Visio 365 Connectors are rerouting as they wish even with being set to freely reroute. I need to be

I have been using Visio since V2000 and I have always been able to route connectors exactly where I want them even right next to another connector. I recently upgraded to the latest version and now I can't place connectors close to another without it snapping on top of the first connector. I draw up somewhat complex electronic diagrams and the ability to place a significant number of connectors very close together is critical. How can I get the functionality back that I need?
