draw and save a shape that will be used in excel
I am a newbie at visio and I currently need to know if it is possible to save a (home-made) drawing, a shape, that I will be able to specify in an excel spreadsheet later.
Please let me know if my question is not specific enough or if it has already been replied. Thanks in advance to the Office forum community. |

Try selecting a ‘shape’ so you see the resize/rotate handles around it.
Then go to File > Save As > Save Location > Type an appropriate name > Save as type > Select say PNG > Save > OK. Result in saved location: |

Thanks for your reply Moonshine,
I succeeded to save the image. However, once I try to use it through excel - I put the file name into the "shape type" column, the shape does not appear. |

With the a Workbook open, can you not click the Insert tab > Illustrations > Pictures > Navigate to the location of the image > Select > Insert > Position as you wish?

I need to create a specific shape which I will be able to use through excel when building complex networks.
I do not intend to be able to open it by clicking but by specifying to excel a path. |

Unfortunately, I'm not an Excel 'person' and I'm unsure what you are trying to achieve.
Perhaps a more knowledgeable person can offer help suited to your needs. |
