Default Option Buttons - linking and control

I'm using Visio 2010 and I've been trying to get multiple option buttons (radio buttons) to work together so as one is selected, the other is deselected, and I haven't been able to get it to work. I tried grouping them, I tried going into the shape properties and typing in a group name, and I've tried adding a frame object and nothing so far has worked.

The other question I have is, can a scratch cell be linked to the button selection, so Scratch.A1 is 1 when selected and 0 when not selected. I don't see anything on the shapesheet for any of the ActiveX controls that corresponds to the button selection. Would this have to be done in VBA? If so, what would the script be to set a scratch cell to the button selection?

Where did you find the radio button object? Post a sample document so we can see what you are dealing with.

I'm on mobile and not at work to get to my computer right now. The option buttons are in the developer tab ActiveX controls, just like Excel.

Are you wanting this interactivity to happen when someone views the Visio file in Visio or is the page being exported to a different format for use? If so, I'm assuming you will need vba to code the ActiveX functionality.

Does this thread help track down what you are trying to do.

These two thing are what I need.

I am using 2019 Pro

It doesn't appear that the ActiveX Option Buttons work the same way in Visio as they do in other Office Applications. ActiveX is pretty old technology that is generally best avoided nowdays and Visio is not really the tool I would be using for interactive forms.

Post a sample document so we can see what (and why) you are trying to achieve and someone may be able to offer a suggestion.

Well you said the magic word. "FORM". This whole time I have been trying to make it work like it does in Excel, where you can just drop them on the sheet and they work. Made a form and they work in there. Problem is that I can't use it in a form since I have to manipulate the page at the same time the form is up. The form open won't allow for that. But just skimming the subject there might be a way.

In any case thank you for mentioning forms. Oh and I did find the insert Frame. Didn't help but I did find it. TY

edit
Yes just a small skim away I found out how to use a form AND still be able to manipulate the page. Linked below to how to make that happen. Again THANX for your help.

ShowModal VBA vbModal and vbModeless
