Shape protection
I have a document where I can't change the shapes, I get the message
"Shape protection, container, and/or layer properties prevent complete execution of this command" So I added Developer tab and I can see that the shape has no protection. The Layer properties show that the layer is not locked and yet I can't delete or ungroup the shapes. I can add more shapes but even if I make the copy of existing shapes I still can't change them. It's driving me crazy Any ideas please? |

How about trying to right-click on the shape(s) in question and then select FORMAT then PROTECTION. From the menu resulting from the PROTECTION selection, check or uncheck the boxes to get your desired result.
Note: I do not have version 2016 and my experience had been reduced since I retired so, this may or may not help any...depending on how advance Visio has progressed. |

Thank you for your reply.
In Visio 2016 right clicking on shape and choosing Format I get only 2 options that appear in right-side menu: Fill&Line and Effects. I can't get Protection menu from any of the items listed in right-click menu. |

Okay, obviously the upgrades have changed things a little. I do not have access to 2016 to offer further assistance. Hopefully, another poster can offer a solution.
Also, you may want to visit http://visguy.com/vgforum/ to address this issue. They have a forum as well with a lot more visitors/traffic that may be able to help you out. |
