If not VISIO then migrate to PPT or WORD?
Hi All
I have quite happily created a number of diagrams in VISIO 2016 but have now been directed to use another Office product for the same diagrams. The choices are WORD or POWERPOINT and ideally I wish to simply copy and paste across as easily as possible. I have done some experimenting and neither migration path seems ideal. I do not want to start again from scratch in the new destination App. Whilst I for preference would stick with VISIO, I sadly don't have this option. So which would you recommend as the best 'second choice' and why? Thanks in advance Niall |

If I am correct in assuming that someone higher than you in the workforce is giving the directions, I can only tell you/them that "you get what you pay for". For Microsoft products, Visio is head and shoulders above Word or PowerPoint in constructing diagrams...without question. Matter of fact, Word is a "word processing" program...not really geared towards diagrams. PowerPoint, while capable of diagrams, is really sub-par and may even be more time consuming...depending upon skill level. So, if you have to select one or the other, PowerPoint would be my option (and, I really hate saying that!).
Prior to my retirement, I worked with both Visio and AutoCAD to construct all types of diagrams (espicially networking and building plans) and my clients were head over heels satisfied with the Visio diagrams for the professional presentation (AutoCAD was really for workforce installation crews to work from). Just my $0.02 worth...Hope this helps... |

Thanks Jim
Yes I understand where you are coming from. I have tried pasting shapes with text from my VISIO diagram into Powerpoint but it is a really clunky exercise to try and get the shapes to behave in the same way as a shape originally created in Powerpoint. I guess I'll just need to persevere. I have about 18 diagrams to transfer over.
Thanks again, Niall |

Create PowerPoint Presentation from Visio Diagrams
Visio is coming up with a new feature which enables users to create PPT from within Visio itself in few clicks. This feature will be available from January fork for Current Channel users. You need to have Visio Pro for O365 to access this feature.
