search in Visio files
I've inherited a) a .pdf, as the only remaining descendant of a former .doc or .docx file; b) a directory full of cryptically-named .vsd source files. Is there any quick and easy way I can search the .vsd files for recognisable text and find out which .vsd is the origin of (for example) the Chip Manufacturing graphic? ["Chip Manufacturing" is human-readable text in a diagram in the .pdf] Thanks in advance! |

I believe the only way to find out the origin of the .vsd files is to open each of them individually and then click on the "File" tab to show the document properties. If you do not have access to Visio, I don't think you will be able to extract that information.

When I've got nothing else to do, I'll open each file and set the properties. Then I'll try arm-wrestling with IT so that the file explorer actually displays file properties by default …
