Nr characters limitation when merging

first, apologize for my english, i'm writting from France.
I don't find anywhere the answer to my problem when editing a catalog with publisher.
I use currently Publisher for editing my catalog with texts, pictures, coming from an Excel file.
Both are 2013.


But there is the following problem:
The descriptions of my items are longer than 255 characters, and I'm obliged to cut them off, otherwise the import fails.
I have absolutely to place the whole descrptions, if not they have no sense.
Could you help me to overpass this limitation ?
