Default real dimension on screen

I selected a 8.5x11" template and started working on it
but when i adjust the size to 100% from bottom right of screen, when i measure the size of paper on screen with my ruler in my hand, it is not 8.5" wide. why ?

That's because any application relies on information returned by the hardware about its properties. Usually, precise information about pixel sizes isn't available, so the application has to make its best guess according to other system parameters. Regardless, you should be able to find a zoom that is close to the actual paper size.

okay so when i find a zoom that is close to actual paper size, and verify it by measuring the width of page with a ruler by hand, then it means, every other thing on the page is the same actual size that they would be when printed correct?
