Contour help
Hi,
I have an issue. When I add a contour, MS Project increases my duration by 1.6 days, therefore the end date moves as well. The reason it does that is if the resource, in the flat contour, works 4hr/day, the backloaded contour basically will start out low, and go no higher than 4hr/day towards the end. Therefore duration has to increase. I don't want that. What I want is to start each resource low, but than towards the end go above 4 hrs to make up for lost time before and keep the duration the same and the end date the same. Can this be done? Thanks |

Hi ususer,
I'm afraid the contours don't work that way. If you assigned the resource at 50% and use a contour, Project will not increase the assignment units above the 50% -- therefore it has to increase the duration to spread the same amount of work over lower assignment units. You can set the task up as fixed duration -- but in that case, the total amount of work will decrease with the max per day at 4 hours. You can certainly contour the work manually in the task usage or resource usage view. I hope this helps. Julie |
