Ignore Resource Work Times
Hello All,
I am trying to put a schedule together, but I'm having a little trouble. Right now I'm trying to schedule various resources (employees) during their shifts; however, part of their operations include running a machine over night where they do not have to monitor it; however since they only have a 10 hour work day the task continues longer than it should since it's assuming it can't be done outside of that time frame. I was wondering if there a way I could make that particular tasks ignore the work times so that it will reflect an accurate schedule? Also, I apologize if it's not very clear so please let me know if you need clarification. Essentially, all I am trying to do is make it so a task ignores the resource's availability and continues to run. It would be ok also if I could assign the specific task a 24 hour schedule so it's never delayed and just runs continually. Thank you in advance for your help. |

Using an 'elapsed duration' will help you with this. To do this, I'll provide you with an example. Let's say you have a task that requires a glue to cure for 14 hours, but you want it to continue into non-working time. Simply make the task duration as 14 ehrs, rather than 14 hrs. Adding the 'e' in front of the time units will make it so that it ignores the work schedule.
Hope that helps! |
