Constraining a fixed interval between two tasks
I have a task the must complete four weeks before a milestone. In theory the milestone date might change what is the best way to constrain the earlier task as I don't wish to use a hard date? In other words I wish to have a constraint that says "task A must finish no later than 4 weeks before Milestone B". Is this even possible in Project? Thanks! |

Hi Doug
Yes this is simple to do without having a date contraint applied (hard date): Your task Predecessor should have an FS link to your Milestone such as: 45FS-28d However you need to be careful of how your Milestone date is being derived. Hope this helps. Tony(OTPM) |

Yes I am aware of that predecessor relationship - and that's what I'm currently using but it's not really what I want. I guess I'll just have to put up with it. |

Hi Doug
Don't give up yet. If you can post a sample of the section of your plan showing this predecessor and explain what you want to achieve then there may be a way. Look forward to hearing from you. Tony(OTPM) |
