Default Change resource allocation and have it update everywhere

I want to define a set of tasks in a summary task and allocate resources for the tasks. I then want to use these tasks over and over in a project. The trick is that I want to be able to change the resource allocations for the aforementioned tasks in one place and have them update all the instances throughout the project... so i don't want to copy paste these tasks... i want to reference them but link them independently. Can MS Project do this?

Hi
Why would you want to automatically change resources assigned to tasks that may have already started or completed throughout your plan.
For example you may have three instances of the same tasks in your plan and the first instance has already started or finished!

To do manpower projections.

In my case I have a production pipeline for a 3D computer game. Lets say I need to build 50 3D monsters. Each monster is modeled, textured, rigged, and animated. Each of those 4 steps is done by a different type of artist each costing a different amount based on their skillset. I can represent the building of one monster as a task with four sub-tasks. I can also replicate the task (and sub-tasks) 50 times in the timeline and play games with developing the tasks in parallel to reduce the time to make all 50. When I do this the Resource Graph will show me where I am over allocating the different types of artist and i can estimate how many to hire. However, if I want to play games with the resource allocations then I have to edit each of the 50 tasks and associated sub-tasks rather than change them in one spot.

You will probably tell me to use Excel...

Default Resource Modelling

Hi
This is what Resource Modelling is all about and no I would never suggest you use Excel to do Resource Modelling. You must use a planning tool such as MS Project.
You don't have to edit the tasks themselves to level resources what you can do is just use the predecessor column to create the relevant links. If you can let me have your email address I will send you a sample plan indicating this. For some reason I am unable to attach a zip file to this post (my email is otpm@blueyonder.co.uk)
Hope this helps. If not get back to me with further detail and I will see what I can do to help.
Good luck.
