Default Having problems with Duration calculations.

I have Type set to Fixed Work, as I want Duration to adjust based on the Resources I add to the ask, leaving the Work static. I have one resource setup to work 8hrs/day, and a second resource to work 4hrs/day. I set the Work to 5d for a task. However, when I assign Resource 1 and Resource 2 to the task, each @ 75%, the Duration is set for 3.33d. I would assume it should be set for 4.44d based on 40hrs (5d) / 9hrs (6hr + 3hr). Where am I going wrong with my calculations?

More details: best I can tell, it's taking the complete time period (ex: 80hrs), and splitting it evenly over the two resources (ex: 40hrs each), and then the duration is based on whoever takes the longest to complete their 40hrs. That's not what I want. I want the duration to calculate based on their combined hrs/day (ex: they combine for 9hrs/day, how long to complete 80hrs). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is driving me crazy.
