Default Showing Text fields on GANTT and Resource

First post and a noob to Project. I have a project file that shows all of the repair work being done at our repair facility. It has each helicopter and then each shop indented and then that shops task indented under that. My problem is when I go to the resource page I see many of the same tasks, but do not know what helicopter the task is tied to. Is there a way to add say a text field where I can type in the helicopter number and it shows on both the resource and GANTT views?

Here is what it looks like:

H15745
Avionics
Repair Radio
Mechanical
Service Hydraulic System
H15799
Avionics
Repair Radio
Mechanical
Gear Swing

None of these tasks have the helicopter number(H15745) repeated on the GANTT chart.

It sounds like you want to track your resources back to the helicopter you are repairing. What you are seeing is as an example 5 man hours for radio repair, but can't tell if it is for H15745 or H15799? Are you looking to find this on a report for the resources or for it to visable on the GNATT sheet?

Yes, I want to be able to see the helicopter number when I apply resources on the resource usage view. Right now I just see the Radio repair twice and don't know which is which.

Hi
Try the "Task Usage View" you will then see all the tasks and the Summary Headings above them.

Sorry it took so long, I was trying to solve the same issue my self. I know this is less than ideal, but the solution I came up with was to insert WBS column in both the gantt and resource report you are running. The WBS is the an outline structure of the project, each activity has a unique place on the WBS and they can be assigned to the activities.

Hope that is helpful.
