Default Finish Variance in Resouce Usage View

Hi all,

Is there a way we can display a Task level column in 'Resource Usage view' with following formula:

Finish Variance = [ Baseline Finish Date (Task) - Finish Date (Task) ]

Custom field could be an option, but did not give the correct results. I would prefer to use non-custom (stock) field, if possible.

Pls advise,

Best Regards.

Hi stct
I dont believe you can use task fields in a resource view and vice versa.
What are you trying to achieve?
I have used two custom date fields to put both dates in then used a custom number field to subtract one from the other and it worked fine.
When you say the result was incorrect bear in mind that Project also used hours and minutes in the date. So you will invariably get a result to two decimal places.
Hope this helps.
Tony

Hi Tony,

I am trying to create a view that will display Resource assignment and any task level variance (Ahead / Slippage # of days). This will help in discussing weekly review with the resource managers to prioritize workload.

I tried following steps:

a. Created 2 custom Resource level Date fields, with field value formulas (1) BaselineStart & (2) Start respectively.

b. Created a custom Resource level Number field, with field value formula (difference of above created custom date fields).

I inserted the custom number field in Resource Usage view and unfortunately, getting 0 value. I have attached sample project with this changes.

Pls advise,

Thanks in avance,

Hi
First of all dates are assigned to a task not a resource. This is why it will not work.
You can do what you want using the task view and put a formula in a custom field.
You could also consider using the "Status" column which will indicate whether or not a task is running late.
Hope this helps.
Tony
