Collecting Metrics in Project
I was hoping to get some assistance. Upon completion of the each software release, per my boss, I need to collect metrics related to that release, including:
a. Number of tasks completed to baseline over total number of tasks, sorted by functional group or activity. b. Value of time duration (in days) off baseline over baseline duration of tasks completed, sorted by functional group or activity. I am really not sure how to generate this information as stated above. First a. can be expressed like this: = # of Tasks completed according to baseline Total Number of Task Second b. I think can be expressed like this: = Actual time duration – Baseline Time Duration Baseline Time Duration In running the Project Summary report I can get the numbers I need for “b” and the “Variance” gives us the top number. The issue with this one is I don’t know how to get the “… sorted by functional group or activity.” And because our IMS actually runs 1 Fiscal Year it the bottom number will always be ruffly 365 days. One issue I noticed hear is that there are 11 Baselines, one being the one I actually created Baseline (last saved on …) and the others are Baseline1, Baseline 2, … Baseline 10. However, mine doesn’t show up in the report generator. What I think I need is the “Variance” per Resource, which we really aren’t using. For “a” I can’t seem to find out how to get this out of Project. I tried to build my own Visual Report and I may be getting closer. Can anyone help??? Thanks, Tim |
